Recommended Wireless Barn Camera Installation
Procedures for Metal Barn. (Some adaptation may be required.)
(Read all instructions thoroughly prior to
installation)
Survey barn for most practical location/placement of exterior
antenna/transmitter box. Location is important. (For best results, choose line
of sight placement of antenna.) Note: If no line of sight placement exists, a
more powerful transmitter and/or antenna may be required depending on distance
and obstructions between antenna and receiver in your home. Proximity to AC
power should also be considered.
Check interior surface of
barn for location and placement of transmitter. Ensure no obstructions
(electrical conduit/wires, ridges, or metal reinforcement) exist prior to
drilling holes.
Kit comes with AC adapter/12V transformer and
4’ of cord. If power source is not located within 4 feet; 2 options are
available: 1) Run suitable extension cord to transformer plug or 2) Purchase
compatible 12V transformer with longer cord. Either method is acceptable.
A. Use with
Pole antenna Attach antenna extender to transmitter. Mount transmitter box
on inside of barn wall using screws or supplied Velcro. Drill small hole, just
large enough for antenna extender to fit through. Thread antenna extender
through hole. On outside of barn, connect pole antenna to extender. Push most
of extender back into barn so that only antenna and connector are located on
outside. Use silicone or weather proof adhesive to ensure tight seal around
antenna inside and outside of barn. Note: the seal should be water-tight.
B. Use with
Flat panel antenna Mount transmitter box on inside of barn wall using
screws or supplied Velcro. Drill small hole, just large enough for small end of
antenna extender to fit through. From outside of barn, thread in small end of
extender, with flat panel antenna remaining on the outside of barn. Push most
of extender to the inside of the barn. Mount flat panel on side of barn, by
pealing off back and sticking to barn, or use supplied Velcro if additional
securing is necessary. Once antenna is mounted, use silicone or weather proof
adhesive to ensure tight seal around antenna inside and outside of barn. Note:
the seal should be water-tight.
Install camera
in desired location and run cable to transmitter and connect to Audio/Video
jacks. Connect power supply to camera. Once AV cables are attached and power
supplied, the camera is ready for transmission.
Place receiver
in home with antenna pointing toward barn antenna. Try to minimize obstructions
if at all possible. Attach audio/video cables from receiver to TV. Attach
power supply for receiver and Set TV on correct video receiving channel.
If recording on
VCR is desired then connect receiver to VCR’s Audio/Video Input and connect VCR
to TV using coaxil cable (or audio/video cables from VCR out to TV In).
